Dell on Dell

Dell is firmly committed to meeting energy conservation benchmarks in manufacturing its products. The company is also determined to conserve energy within the corporation by improving the power management of approximately 50,000 in-house computers. “We want to take an industry-leading approach to energy conservation,” says Jay Taylor, senior engineer global strategist at Dell. “The technology is now available to make significant improvements in conservation, and we set out to deploy that technology to both conserve energy and cut costs.”

Department of Children, Schools & Families

The UK government’s Department for Children, Schools and Families found that many of its PCs were being left on unnecessarily overnight and at weekends. As part of the target for all government offices to be carbon neutral by 2012, the Department is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and setting an example to others to advocate emission savings.

Devon and Cornwall Constabulary

Deployed by 1E as part of a Devon and Cornwall Police and SunGard Public Sector Facilities Management ICT project, a more robust IT infrastructure plus reduced power consumption proved a winning combination for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.

Grupo Banco Popular

Grupo Banco Popular’s many branch locations were served by a PC-based network that could be affected by heavy network traffic. With 1E’s SMSNomad Branch, the bank’s cost-effective network now provides a highly efficient system for distributing, updating and managing software, with high levels of reliability and security.

Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Trust

Less intrusive desktop maintenance and lower bills - a greener solution from 1E is given the green light at Norfolk and Waveney MHFT.

Peterborough City Council

Peterborough City Council estimated that 30% of its PCs were being left on unnecessarily. In conjunction with 1E, Peterborough City Council looked at a simple, cost-effective and immediate solution. The NightWatchman® software solution enables the automatic, centralized power management of PCs across the ICT infrastructure. The benefits quickly achieved by the authority in its goal of reducing its carbon footprint and providing an example to others to advocate emission savings included a reduction of £50k on electricity costs and 250 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum.

Reed Elsevier

Working collaboratively with Microsoft and Reed Elsevier personnel, 1E were the first UK organization to deliver a Vista migration infrastructure and images to production machines in the UK. Utilising BDD 2007 (for its first deployment globally for Vista) 1E successfully helped Reed Elsevier migrate their Head Quarter PCs onto the new Microsoft platform.

SABMiller

SABMiller required a single reporting solution for servers, desktop PCs and laptops for status information, security patches and antivirus software. SAB Miller chose SMS 2003 for it’s reporting and deployment capabilities, and 1E for its design, development and implementation skills. Additionally it selected 1E’s RightClick Deployment™, SMS WakeUp and NightWatchman Solutions to further enhance SMS, delivering a 30-40% reduction in support calls.

University of Southern Denmark

The University of Southern Denmark has cut its energy bills and improved the quality of the working day with the aid of the 1E Patch Management Pack. It can now switch on computers remotely overnight for a brief time in order to apply patches, eliminating disruptions to users during the day and saving an estimated $180,000 on electricity each year.

Verizon Wireless

With a commitment to driving down its energy costs, Verizon Wireless deployed a range of technologies, including SMS Patch Management Pack (now known as Power & Patch Management Pack) from 1E, across 63,000 managed machines within an infrastructure of 88,000 PCs for its USA call centers. The result is better power management, savings of $1.3 million per year and no compromise on performance.

Vision Service Plan

SMS Wakeup and NightWatchman not only saved VSP significant expenditure of energy costs and C02 emissions, but have provided the further benefit of enabling controlled and successful software and patch distribution. These tasks can now occur overnight or during weekends, and only require the machines to be powered on for less than an hour. Previously, PCs had to be left on for the entire weekend.

Wolverhampton Council

Wolverhampton City Council required a solution that would complement the systems management features of SMS while ensuring the successful patching of 3500 workstations out-of-hours. They chose SMSWakeUp for the following reasons: to complement Microsoft's SMS for systems management; to guarantee patching success; to significantly reduce patch deployment time; and to avoid any user interaction.
