| 1E and the Microsoft Challenge 2008 |
|
In June 2008, seven 1E employees travelled to sunny Stirling and the Trossachs
in Scotland to test mind, body and soul to the limit as part of the Microsoft
UK Challenge, which raised crucial funds for the NSPCC. At the competition,
nicknamed the 'Corporate Olympics', the 1E team competed against over 600
individual competitors involving long distance running, mountain biking,
canoeing and mental challenges which ran all day until the early hours of the
morning.
Courtney Austin, 1E's Marketing Manager, captained the team this year and led
them through a number of fun but exhausting challenges over the course of 4
days finishing on Sunday. This year, 1E entered a mixed male and female team
finishing a strong 33rd place in the mixed category and 73rd overall.
The reason for this event, and the aim behind the months of gruelling training
that the team endured, is to raise funds for the NSPCC. The money raised will
be ploughed into services that provide therapy, support and protection to help
free children from cruelty and abuse. We would like to thank MillsHill, Charles
Russell, Pure Events and Edelman for sponsoring the team's running suits worn
throughout the event, and we are sure that the NSPCC are very grateful for all
funds received.
