Since our last V1EW Point newsletter, 1E have experienced a very busy but rewarding few months. The company has gone from strength to strength, with substantial growth in development, testing, consultancy and sales and marketing areas of the 1E organization. I am sure you will experience the benefits of this investment in our joint engagements.

Being one of few companies to have designed, deployed and delivered several large-scale global Configuration Manager 2007 (ConfigMgr) implementations, 1E have gained early insight and hands-on experience with this much improved Windows management system. The recent expansion of 1E both in the US and the UK significantly strengthens our ability to help our clients leverage this exciting new technology. Furthermore, our depth of experience with Operations Manager 2007 continues to grow as we implement the solution across some of the largest server environments.
Major new product releases align our software armoury fully with ConfigMgr providing complete integration and support. As you will see in this newsletter we continue to innovate, helping our clients reduce power consumption, management complexity and operational costs.
Now in its fifth generation, the award winning NightWatchman PC power management solution has seen continuous development with major feature improvements. Version 5.0 supports Windows® Vista™ and includes enhanced reporting to provide greater flexibility and visibility of PC power consumption. Power options compliance reporting enables organizations to continuously monitor their performance against energy-saving policies. Whilst enhanced scripting allows even further control over applications as the machine shuts down. The 1E WakeUp Wake-On-LAN solution and Nomad Enterprise, 1E’s revolutionary OS and software distribution software, have now been upgraded to fully integrate with ConfigMgr. The recently launched SystemForge® solution from 1E accelerates the provision of complex server environments for software development & testing and business services.

In order to understand our customers’ requirements more precisely and discuss technical & business challenges, we have embarked on a series of 1E Road Shows. I have thoroughly enjoyed these events, as they allowed me to meet with many of you. I wish to personally thank all who attended - it was a pleasure seeing you there. The Road Shows are held at various US and UK venues and will continue to run until June 2008 – so you still have plenty of time to attend.
1E have recently taken part in IT Forum in Barcelona, Spain, which proved to be an exciting and enjoyable event where we had the opportunity to meet again with old friends and make new ones. Having a firmly held passion for the environment, I am very glad that organizations world-wide are today waking up to the environmental and cost benefits of reducing power consumption. The shift towards a ‘greener’ environment continues and business objectives seem to reflect this more and more. I was privileged to talk at this year’s EE Global conference in Washington DC, USA, about the waste incurred by leaving PCs always on and how simply it can be curbed by effective PC power management. The conference consists of a cross-section of clean technology leaders working in both the public and private sector and has a clear opportunity to influence policy making on a global scale. This is one of the reasons why 1E is such a keen supporter of the Alliance to Save Energy, the group behind the conference, who advocate the use of "clean-tech" solutions for tackling global warming.
