January is Love Your Liver month; a national health awareness campaign from the British Liver Trust. 1E are delighted to be able to support the charity with the loan of IT equipment for their UK wide roadshow which runs from 14th to 24th January. An estimated two million people in the UK are living with liver disease; one in ten deaths of people in their 40s is due to liver disease and the majority of cases are preventable. Alcohol, fatty foods, sugary drinks and viral hepatitis are all contributory factors, and most people are not aware they are risk.

Sumir Karayi, co-founder and CEO at 1E said, “We’re a social company and know all about playing hard, but of course it’s important to recognize that it’s not just heavy drinkers who are at risk of liver disease. We wanted to do what we could to help promote awareness of this issue, and the British Liver Trust’s Love Your Liver roadshow is an excellent initiative.”

Completing the British Liver Trust’s online health questionnaire could be your first step towards Loving Your Liver – it takes just five minutes and will let you know what to do if you may be at risk.

Audrey Cornelius from the charity said, “So many people are unaware of the causes of liver disease, we get calls every day from people newly diagnosed who are in distress and were completely unaware they were at risk. Taking our three simple steps could save lives – take two-three days off alcohol a week, reduce fat and sugar and take regular exercise. We are very grateful for 1E’s support for the Love Your Liver roadshow, getting the message out to a wide audience is essential.”
