Getting an ISO standard started and shepherded through to publication can be a convoluted and complex process. After all, these standards are being reviewed and approved by countries all around the world.

This relatively light-hearted six minute video breaks it down using sock puppets describing the process a document follows on its journey from an idea to becoming a published ISO standard – Watch it on YouTube.

If you want to know more about standards development, feel free to reach out to the following individuals – we would be more than happy to provide you with more information and help you get involved:

  • Jason Keogh current editor of ISO/IEC 19770-3
  • Peter Beruk key contributor to ISO/IEC 19770-1:2012 and current secretary of WG21
  • Steve Klos convener and editor of ISO/IEC 19770-2:2009 and the revision currently in process
