From 'Run IT for Less', to literally running, team 1E will be taking on the 2014 Ealing Half Marathon, in support of a great cause.
Not only will several members of our staff be pounding the pavements in full race gear, but we are proud to announce that 1E will be sponsoring the event.
This year's race will take place on Sunday 28th September in Ealing, west London, home to 1E's global headquarters. The race will start and finish in Lammas Park, one of west London's most picturesque parks, and take in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephen's before returning to Lammas Park. Fresh from being voted Number One Half Marathon in the UK (The Running Awards 2014) and Number One for Atmosphere (Runner's World 2013), the popular race will accommodate up to 6,000 runners.
1E staff have been participants for several years now, and so for 2014 we're delighted to announce our sponsorship, and support for this year's headline charity, the Alzheimer's Society. The work of the Alzheimer's Society goes hand-in-hand with the socially responsible values of 1E, says Alison Newton, EA to VP Engineering,
"There's a real culture of charitable activity at 1E, and the chance to do something fun and challenging, whilst promoting and raising money for a really good group of charities, fits right in with that."
The 1E Ealing half marathon team is a real mix, with keen runners taking part once again, and newcomers making their long distance début. Dave Harding, Senior Product Manager, says, "I'm one of the first-timers, and am looking towards Sunday with a mixture of excitement and trepidation! Getting round the course is the aim, but I'll be hoping for a good time."
Software Engineer Moyo Lawal adds, "We work really hard alongside each other every day creating this great technology, that's making a difference to some of the biggest companies around, so to get out on the streets for the Ealing half marathon will be a great change of pace."
