How 1E and Tableau spun up a 5000-machine company in one week

How-1E-and-Tableau-spun-up-a-5000-machine-company-in-one-week

You may recall that last year 1E attended Tableau’s customer conference in Austin, Texas. We were there primarily to see how Tableau was using our Configuration Manager solution Nomad.
5,000 computers sat in the conference center, ready to do what was asked of them. But nothing had ever been done on this type of scale before. Last year’s conference comprised of 2,500 laptops— and as SCCM guru Johan Arwidmark puts it, “Typically, an enterprise does not spin up 5,000 machines in a weekend so that obviously puts a lot of stress on the infrastructure.” Stress on a massive scale.
“The 1E Nomad solution was really a game changing piece of software,” said Chris Frickland, event infrastructure manager at Tableau. “We found there wasn’t really any software solutions that could share the large amounts of files, data sets, or new installs of large programs we use, at a speed and scale required by us, and also at a way that would not overly tax the network.” That’s where Nomad kicked in.
This exciting case study goes into further detail about how the team got ready and accomplished their goals using Nomad. You can download it for free now!
