Proud to be supporting National Adoption Week 2014

BAAF-National-Adoption-Week-2014

1E has long been a keen supporter of the British Association of Adoption and Fostering ( BAAF ), and I am delighted to say that our company will be supporting BAAF’s National Adoption Week campaign again this year. Last year BAAF was able to match just over 1,000 children thanks to its supporters, including the efforts of all 1E staff.
National Adoption Week 2014 takes place from 3-9 November, and this year the main focus is on keeping brothers and sisters together (where this is believed to be in the best interest of the children in question), so BAAF will be asking all their supporters to post photos on social media either with their sibling or with a short message on the board what their brother or sister means to them (if they have a sibling).
There are over 91,000 children in care in the UK, 6,000 of them are waiting to be adopted! However, sadly for 1 in 4 it is likely to remain only a dream. And for every year a child waits their chances of being adopted reduce by 20%. National Adoption Week is BAAF’s annual campaign to raise awareness of the need for more adoptive parents and focuses on harder-to-place children.
It’s been great fun fundraising on behalf of BAAF, but I couldn’t have done so without the support of my wonderful family or colleagues. In the past year alone we’ve raised tens of thousands for the charity through events from athletic efforts (London Marathon) to fun events in the office (International Talk like a Pirate Day).
BAAF is the UK’s leading adoption and fostering charity. Since 1980, they have transformed the lives of nearly 10,000 children and helped over 1,000,000 people. They believe that every child deserves a family and work tirelessly to help find and secure loving families for children who can no longer live with their birth family.
