Multiple Award-Winning NightWatchman® Server Edition Demonstrated at IT Decisions, 23-24th June 2010
Birmingham, UK – 23 June 2010 – IT Decisions 2010: 1E, a software and services company that improves IT efficiency by identifying and reducing costs and waste in hardware, software, energy and time, will present on Server Efficiency and Energy Management as part of the Green IT and Compliance Track at this year’s IT Decisions conference. Product Manager Andy Hawkins from 1E’s innovations team will host session E5 after lunch on 23rd June from 1.15-1.45pm at the NEC in Birmingham.
Hawkins’ session will explore how unused servers and virtual sprawl are both significant contributors to inefficiency in today’s data center. It reveals the extent of the problem and shows how software can now measure server efficiency and relate it to power consumption, enabling organizations to find and reduce waste effectively.
“Reducing IT inefficiency in the data center has become a top priority for business. Recent research has shown that waste from unused servers totals 11.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, and that reining in unproductive servers globally would produce £2.6 billion in energy cost savings alone,” says Hawkins. “This session will explore ways in which organizations can ensure their servers are fully productive and how 1E can help them tap into these vast savings.”
Show attendees will also have an opportunity to preview NightWatchman® Server Edition 2.0 at 1E’s booth, #F12. NightWatchman Server Edition addresses the £15 billion of IT spend wasted each year on servers not doing any useful work. Traditional monitoring tools primarily focus on availability and performance, but provide little insight on whether a server is providing any business value. NightWatchman Server Edition provides detailed efficiency and power reporting, makes decisions such as decommissioning wasteful servers much simpler, and further enhances the efficiency of productive servers through its Drowsy Server® technology. Additional, efficient IT solutions presented on 1E’s booth include 1E Shopping, Nomad Enterprise and NightWatchman – the world’s leading PC power management solution.
