Leading sustainable development company expects to save 150 tonnes of carbon with NightWatchman® Enterprise

London, UK, 15 December 2011 – 1E (https://www.1e.com), the global leader in Efficient IT solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Balfour Beatty WorkPlace (www.bbworkplace.com), part of the multi-billion pound international engineering, construction and services group of the same name,  to reduce energy waste and decrease carbon emissions from PCs that are not being used.

Balfour Beatty Workplace will play its part in the Balfour Beatty 2020 sustainability vision by reducing the equivalent Green House Gas (GHG) emissions of 27 cars in the first year alone. That’s the equivalent electricity usage of 21 homes. This will help the business save approximately £20,000 in the first year.

“NightWatchman Enterprise helps us track when PCs are left on out of normal working hours. The sophisticated reports help us see where and when energy wastage is occurring. More than that, it actively and automatically shuts those machines down for us to save unnecessary energy use,” comments Alex Playford, IT Project Manager, Balfour Beatty WorkPlace.

“As a group, we had a weighted score of 900.5 in the CRC Performance League Table this year, a score which we will be actively looking to improve in the coming year. With NightWatchman Enterprise, which will contribute towards achieving that goal, we can monitor and drive the savings now and in the future. The reports, which quantify how much money, carbon and electricity we are saving, make our investment to date justifiable for our business at a time when energy prices are rising and organizations are being mandated to reduce their carbon emissions.” he concludes.

“We are delighted to be making a positive contribution to Balfour Beatty’s 2020 sustainability vision by helping Balfour Beatty WorkPlace eliminate energy waste from its PC estate,” comments Sumir Karayi, CEO, 1E.

Balfour Beatty Workplace, itself a recipient of a Green Apple environmental award, is committed to delivering its services in a consistently sustainable manner and to being a sustainable business.
