Lloyds Banking Group and 1E win Computer Weekly European User Award for Enterprise Software
1E NightWatchman Enterprise helps major financial organisation drive savings of over £2m in electricity costs and 9,836,487 kg of CO2 in just six months
London, UK, 19 June 2014 – Lloyds Banking Group has won the Computer Weekly European User Award for Enterprise Software – Private Sector, recognising the role that 1E’s NightWatchman has played in delivering measurable business benefits for the global organisation.
Using NightWatchman, Lloyds Banking Group has made savings of £2.2m in electricity costs and 9,836 tonnes of CO2, equating to 1.1m gallons of petrol, in just eight months. The company beat six other shortlisted companies to win the award, demonstrating the strength of the entry in reducing costs, improving management capabilities and improving overall business efficiencies.
NightWatchman sits at the heart of a major ‘power down PC’ initiative led by Lloyds Banking Group’s UK Desktop Services team, automating the process of shutting down or putting to sleep over 100,000 PCs, dispersed across the London headquarters and local branches and contact centres across the UK.
By providing an accurate picture of energy use and carbon emissions, NightWatchman has enabled Lloyds Banking Group to benchmark its usage and measure the savings, through an unparalleled ability to accurately measure power consumption and map different energy tariffs to different locations to attach a precise financial cost.
Sumir Karayi, CEO of 1E, comments: “The award win from Computer Weekly is testament to the significant impact that energy efficiency technologies can make in removing millions in technology – and energy – costs within an organization. Through its use of NightWatchman, Lloyds Banking Group has also demonstrated how, with the application of 1E tools, organizations can effectively manage complex IT infrastructures and drive lasting change and improvements.”
