Partnership Brings Mutual Customers Greater Control Of Virtual Data Center Assets

London & New York (Uptime Institute Symposium, Booth #325), May 18, 2010 – 1E, a software and services company that improves IT efficiency by identifying and reducing costs and waste in hardware, software, energy and time, today announced it has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. The VMware TAP program helps technology vendors integrate their products with VMware virtualization software and deliver timely, joint solutions to mutual customers.

“We are excited to welcome 1E as the newest member of the VMware TAP program,” said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware. “The VMware TAP program offers companies like 1E the tools and resources they need to develop high-value solutions that meet the needs of our mutual customers.”

“1E is committed to developing strategic technology alliances to give our customers more from their IT and enable them to foster significant cost and energy savings and a reduced carbon emissions footprint as a result”, adds Sumir Karayi, CEO, 1E.

“According to Gartner, “so-called ‘server-sprawl’ — caused in part by inefficient procurement process and ‘server hugging’ application architectures — results in underutilized servers and is one of the biggest and most obvious causes of unnecessary energy consumption.”i In fact, Gartner goes on to say that “virtual server sprawl may replace physical server sprawl, resulting in server hardware (and operations) inefficiencies.”ii At 1E we believe that virtual sprawl must be mitigated against, so as not to negate the benefits of a virtualization project. As a result of our new agreement with VMware, 1E’s NightWatchman Server Edition customers will have greater control and visibility of their virtual assets in their data center, enabling them to protect against uncontrolled virtual machine proliferation,” concludes Karayi.

With more than 1,300 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.
