By centralizing and automating PC shutdown processes, NightWatchman enables businesses to save energy consumed by idle workstations and report accurate savings data to internal constituents and shareholders.

New features of NightWatchman 5.0 include:
- Enhanced reporting: provides greater flexibility and visibility on network power consumption and high‐speed reporting of achieved energy savings
- Power options compliance reporting: reports on power options settings for each PC across the network, enabling continuous monitoring of performance against energy saving policies
- Enhanced scripting: allows more control over application windows ‐ as the machine shuts down to deal with issues in a more generic fashion
- Enhanced graphing engine: supports 24 new chart types with 3D graphics and single button‐click for printing and exporting reports to PDF or Excel files
Research conducted by 1E shows that an average‐sized US customer with 10,000 PCs can prevent 1,381 tons of CO2 emissions annually using NightWatchman.
