London and New York, 8:00am ET Sept. 29, 2014 : In a September 2014 survey commissioned by 1E, the global leader in IT efficiency software, Forrester Consulting today unveiled the increased need for desktop virtualization in enterprise organizations. The consumerization of IT has enabled employees to demand the freedom to choose their devices, applications and even operating systems and the race to create a more employee-centric environment is a key factor that is driving the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement.
The custom Technology Adoption Profile titled "Desktop Virtualization Demand Continues to Grow in Harmony with BYOD," and conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of 1E, yielded three key takeaways:
Specifically, the research unveiled that 65 percent believe that employee demands for flexibility is driving increased employee-centricity within IT. Eighty two percent of survey respondents identified greater automation of IT service delivery as the key enabler of improved service, with 72 percent supporting BYOPC (Bring Your Own PC) and 55 percent citing desktop virtualization tools as important technologies for improving employee-centricity.
With the adoption of non-company controlled devices, 58 percent of the IT decision makers that were surveyed believe that BYOD will drive them to adopt newer and better security policies. While security concerns were high, 50 percent of IT decision makers said that BYOD will reduce costs in the long-term, by enabling self-service support for BYOD employees and ultimately freeing up IT time to focus on business-critical technology initiatives.
