Seeing clearly with 1E’s Application Migration: new version gives users even better insight during Windows updates

New York, November 16, 2017– Application management is a key part of any successful Windows migration or update. Ensuring users have the applications they need to get back to work must be a central priority if IT teams are serious about minimizing the potential disruption around an update, whilst ensuring all those users are fully current and therefore secure.

Only 1E’s Application Migration can ensure end users always have the applications they need after a Windows migration (or other servicing activity). Now the new Application Migration 2.0 can offer end users even greater control through the upgrade process.

Uniquely, with Application Migration 2.0, users can now track which applications are covered by rules and which ones aren’t. This focusses users on getting work done. It also reduces application noise by letting users filter out applications that are less relevant to them specifically.

Says XX XX of IBM Services: “Application Migration allowed IT to set specific migration rules. This was not only significantly more efficient, it was also millions of dollars cheaper than the previous automated approach.”

Other important features of Application 2.0 include:

  • Migrate applications based on geographies or lines of business – The tool enables organizations to organize their application estate into logical units such as geographical regions or lines of business through management groups. Organizations can then define application migration rules and assign them either globally or more specifically to a particular geography or line of business.
  • One-touch visibility into version sprawl – The tool now displays a hierarchical view of an application, its versions and their usage profiles, and the rules applicable to those versions. This provides one touch visibility into version sprawl for an application, and all the supporting data to make informed migration decisions.
  • Improved Preview Experience – The Preview functionality now provides an improved experience by providing visibility into normalized applications, excluded applications and non-normalised applications all within a single page. Going further, the Preview also allows one to normalize a non-normalized application into the catalog without leaving the Application Migration tool.
