Ian van Reenen

Ian is the Chief Technology Officer at 1E, joining in 2022 with over 20 years of experience as a successful software entrepreneur and engineering leader. He co-founded Attix5, a pioneer in online backup (now RedStor Cloud Backup and Recovery), and later CentraStage, a leading RMM service (now Datto RMM). Ian’s extensive background spans CTO and VP roles, where he has delivered world-class software across the private and public sectors globally.
Ian’s career is built on creating secure, scalable solutions that meet real customer needs. His approach focuses on understanding the market, listening to customers, and fostering long-term relationships. Ian holds a degree in Information Systems and Economics from Natal University in South Africa.
His key areas of interest include the evolution of AI at the edge, the intersection of digital employee experience (DEX) with AI, and user-centric approaches to IT strategy and development.
