Windows 10 Migration for the Enterprise

Given its sheer scale and complexity, migrating to Windows 10 has the potential to be the most painful, costly and time-sensitive IT project for many organizations. There is an undeniable impact on the network, and striking the right balance between a successful and fast migration and not disrupting the flow of business data, yet ensuring that the right software applications are installed, are key considerations that IT departments have to take when planning and executing their migration.

Typical Operating System (OS) content includes core images, boot images, driver packages and software packages, and whereas a base Windows XP was around 800 MB in size, after forming a system capture and including only the latest service pack, a comparable base Windows 10 image is around 3.5 GB in size.

The challenge is not just about moving larger volumes of data. Network speeds (WAN and LAN) are growing at a much slower rate than content and are being used for more purposes than ever, which means deploying this content to the enterprise is taking longer than ever.
